RENIA YOGA
I’m an artist and yoga teacher living in Northern Norway — a land of long winters, Arctic light, and quiet that runs deep. When I’m not practicing or teaching, you’ll find me painting or knitting by the fire. I value freedom — in life, in thought, and in movement.
My background is in martial arts. For years, I trained hard, loved the discipline, and learned to respect the body as a powerful, adaptive system. I practiced Ashtanga Yoga intensively, following its structure and rhythm. But as time passed, I started to notice how some postures no longer served me. With age and experience, I’ve learned to listen to my body — to know when to hold on, and when to let go.
I still carry the wisdom of the Ashtanga method, but I no longer believe in rigid sequences for every body. Instead, I’m drawn to creative, varied, evidence-based movement. I believe in strength that’s built sustainably, and in practice that meets you where you are — not where a dogma says you “should” be.
I don’t believe in magic thinking, manifesting powers, or borrowed light. I believe in honest work, deep breathing, and self-respect. I read a lot — books like Body and Science, Hadot’s philosophy of spiritual exercises, or Edith Eger’s The Choice keep me grounded and curious.
In my teaching, I aim to create space. A space for movement, reflection, and practice that’s real — not perfect. Yoga in Norway looks different than yoga in Bali, and I think that’s a good thing. We don’t need more illusions. We need more truth, more self-awareness, more creative courage.
If that speaks to you — welcome.
